I’m leaving SLB

Whether it’s for a new job, a change in employment status or retirement, at some point we will all leave our employer. At this time there are many questions at the top of mind; the tips below will help to make the transition smoother.

  • Your employee benefits will cease on your last day of employment.
  • Ensure that you submit any outstanding group benefit plan expenses within 90 days of your last day of employment.
  • Review your options for Group Benefits conversion to Sun Life’s My Health Choice plan, if you would like to purchase health insurance coverage.
  • You must apply within 60 of your last day of employment.
  • Contact Sun Life directly at 1-877-893-9893 for more information or to confirm eligibility.

  • To convert your Life Insurance coverage, you must apply within 31 days of your last day of employment.
  • To convert Optional Critical Illness coverage, for yourself, your spouse/partner and your children you must apply within 60 days of your last day of employment.

  • If you would like to convert your Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) benefit with service provider Industrial Alliance, please contact myAskHR.

Sun Life is the SLB Retirement Savings Plan Administrator. They will assist you and provide details on what you can do with your money.

What to expect
Following your final pay with SLB, Sun Life will be notified of your termination/retirement and your status with Sun Life will be updated from active to terminated. This will trigger a separation package that will be processed within 10 business days and mailed to the address on file with Sun Life. Mailing times will vary depending on your location. This package will include your account balances and the choices about what to do with your money. You do not need to wait to receive this package to learn about your choices. You can contact Sun Life at anytime to speak with a licensed Financial Consultant at no charge to discuss your options. You will continue to be able to view your account balances online at anytime.

  • Licensed Financial Consultant: If you live in North America, call Sun Life toll-free at 1-877-893-9893. The international number is 1-800-2527-3211, Monday to Friday, 6 am to 6 pm, MT.
  • Check your balances and see how your funds are doing. Download the my Sun Life mobile app on Google Play or the Apple App Store.
Any accrued and unused vacation time will be paid out on your final paycheck. If you have questions about your ROE or T4 contact myAskHR. This is a service available to past SLB employees.
SLB recognizes that employees leaving the company may continue to need periodic support with HR-related questions. We are committed to assisting you with these queries through ESM Alumni Service Center, which is accessible from the internet. Once registered, you will be able to submit your queries and benefit from the support of our subject-matter experts. These HR specialists will have access to the information related to your career history and any post-employment benefits with SLB.
 

A ESM Alumni Service Center account will be automatically created for you within two weeks after the termination process has been completed. The ESM Alumni Service Center account will only be automatically created if you provide personal email address to your local HR. Following account creation, you can expect an email that will contain your account details. If you did not provide an email, you can still set-up an account by following the alternative steps to access ESM Alumni Service Center.

Alternative steps to access ESM Alumni Service Center:
1. Create an account on ESM Alumni Service Center:

  • Access ESM Alumni Service Center.
  • Complete the registration form and save. It is essential that you provide complete and accurate information to avoid the risk of your application being denied. The information you submitted will be verified and you will receive a notification once the account creation is validated. You will receive your login credentials in a separate e-mail.

2. Submit your query on ESM Alumni Service Center:

  • Access ESM Alumni Service Center.
  • Click the “Login page” link on the top of the page and enter your credentials, then click “Login”
  • Submit your query
