If you or someone you know needs support, help is available.
Crisis and distress centers provide free and confidential emotional support to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you are struggling with thoughts of suicide, or are worried about a friend or loved one, help is available. If there is an immediate risk, please call 911 in Canada.

Crisis Support Services – Canada-wide
 
  • Canada-wide Crisis Support Services - Call and text 9-8-8, a three-digit number for suicide prevention, giving people experiencing thoughts of suicide, or people worried about someone else, an accessible and easy number to call when they need urgent help. This is available in English and French, 24/7, 365 days a year to any person living in Canada.

  • Kid’s Help Phone: Call 1 (800) 668-6868. For kids and teens (ages 20 and under), professional counsellors are available to help, 24 hours a day.
  • It’s free, confidential and anonymous.

  • Call 1-800-SUICIDE (1 (800) 784-2433). If you are thinking about ending your life or are concerned about someone who may be, you can call for help any time of day or night, from anywhere across BC. It’s a free call.
  • 211 is here to help you find the right community and social services. You can dial 2-1-1 to speak to an Information & Referral Specialist or search the online (www.BC211.ca/) community resource directory. This service is free, confidential, and available 7 days a week between the hours of 8 am to 11 pm PST.

  • The NWT Help Line offers free support to residents of the Northwest Territories, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It is 100% free and confidential. The NWT Help Line also has an option for follow-up calls.
  • Residents can call the help line at 1-800-661-0844.
  • NWT residents can also visit the NWT Help Line Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/NWTHelpLine/ (link is external) for wellness information, tips, and community events.
